North Branch Land TrustNorth Branch Land Trust 11th Annual Susquehanna River TripJuly 30, 2011 Come join us for the 11th Annual NBLT River Trip on the North Branch of the Susquehanna River on Saturday, July 30th. This year’s trip is from Meshoppen River Access to Howland Preserve. Endless Mountain Outfitters will run a morning shuttle leaving at 9:30 a.m. from Howland Preserve, to the put in at Meshoppen. A brief talk of the Howland Preserve is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., with the river launch at 10:30 a.m. We expect a sunny day for this 9.3 mile paddle! Bring binoculars (eagles are nesting near-by), proper footwear for water, plenty of sunscreen and bug spray, snacks, drinking water, and your lunch. We will stop at a River Island for a snack and for river education. After the trip, you can picnic at the preserve. See online registration, www.emo444.com, for shuttle reservations. EMO offers recreational kayaks for rent. They are very stable and user friendly. Tandem kayaks and canoes are also available. The recreational kayaks are $45 and tandem kayaks or canoes are $60 per day. PFD's and paddles are included. A lesson on how to kayak will be given. Prices include a donation to North Branch Land Trust. Visit EMO’s web page for more information and to register on line: EMO Store or phone EMO directly for reservations: (570) 746-9140; or register by e-mail: kayaks@ptd.net. Reservations are required. If you bring your own boat, registration for the event is $15 per boat. Bring your boat to the Howland Preserve and EMO will shuttle you either prior to the float or afterwards. If you need livery for your boat from the preserve there will be a $10 additional charge. If you have any questions, call David or Melody Buck at (570) 746-9140 or email kayaks@ptd.net.
